The Cup is the “blog” where you will find the tasting notes from all of our cupping/tasting sessions. It is open for Spro Coffee staff, roasters, suppliers, vendors, customer and anyone interested in coffee and what we’re tasting this week.
Cuppings are typically held at either Spro Coffee in Towson or Hampden and follow generally accepted cupping practices. Our Baristas cup coffees from various roasters and suppliers on a regular basis to determine which coffees we will offer to our customers. All service cuppings are done blind and within 48 hours of receipt.

Because of our belief that “not all knowledge resides in one house” we will, from time to time, offer outstanding coffees from roasters worldwide. Over the years, The Spro has offered coffees from various coffee companies from around the world, including Zoka, Square Mile, Cuvee, Metropolis, Egawa and Tim Wendleboe.
Our doors are open for any company or roaster to submit their coffees for consideration. We ask that you provide as much information regarding the coffee as possible concerning its’ origin, processing, varietal(s) and roast date. For coffees that you would like us to consider for service, please send one (1) pound or 500 grams of roasted coffee. This allows us to cup the coffee and, should the coffee be selected, determine the correct brew method and parameters.
